The Newport Chapter’s beloved annual youth surf competition, Otter Rock and Roll, returns for its 14th summer! This year’s competition will take place on International Surfing Day- Saturday, June 15th at Otter Rock/Devil’s Punchbowl State Park.
Surfer registration is filling up fast, but we still have some slots available in the Girls 13-15 division, Boys 12 & Under, and Boys 16-18, among others. Registration is $40 and can be purchased on Eventbrite.
This competition allows kids from all over to come and compete, and even features a Parent with Child Division for the littles, and a Best Beginner division, which includes a wetsuit and board rental, and a surf lesson! This long-running event provides an opportunity for kids to get in the water, and for some, sparks a love of the sport that can last a lifetime. Chapter volunteers from all over the state come together for this signature event, and it’s a fantastic reminder of the fun that should be central to our work with Surfrider.
This event is made possible by volunteers just like you! Register to volunteer here, and enjoy breakfast and lunch on us, plus a fun day at the beach, and all the warm fuzzies! We are especially looking for volunteer surf instructors.
Also crucial to this event is the support of our sponsors!
