Have you checked out our Depoe Bay BWTF?

It's been about 6 months now since we began testing again the beaches of Lincoln City to Depoe Bay, all due to the fantastic new Blue Water Task Force Lab we now have with Neighbors For Kids as part of their Kids Zone after school program.

Through the fantastic leadership of local members and Depoe Bay Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) coordinators Larry and Nanci Brammer and Neighbors for Kids director Toby Winn, these kids are regularly performing water quality testing for some of the most popular recreational beaches in the area.

These kids are participating in real, hands-on applied science techniques, the same as the Department of Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency for testing recreational beaches. All along, the kids are gaining applied science skills and learning how water quality interacts with both the natural and social world we live in.

Click here to see the latest results and where the testing is occurring. Wanna volunteer? We need more field samplers willing to help collect water quality and transport it to the Kids Zone lab once a month. It's an easy opportunity, almost anyone can volunteer and be trained and a great way to help the kids' program! Contact Larry to get involved in the sampling and go through the quick and easy training.
