This coming Friday, October 29th from 3pm-5pm on the south lawn of City Hall, join us and our partners from the Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) and the youth work crew to help plant the City Hall Ocean Friendly Rain Garden. A project in the making for over a year now, it was only through the support of our partners with LSWCD and the City of Newport that we were able to make this happen. All that stuff that runs down the roof and down the stormdrains now has an extra "garden filter" to help remove bacteria and other non-point source pollutants from the water before it reaches our beloved beaches. Want to learn more about the project, check out the short article here or simply join us on Friday to do some planting! This is a great way to get involved and get your hands a little dirty while helping on a great project. Bring some planting gloves and a where something prepared to get dirty, rain or shine. Contact oregon@surfrider.org for more information on volunteering.
