Newport Surfrider Chapter and Spring Street neighbors in Newport have made good progress in securing beach access within the historic Jump-Off Joe Road right-of-way. The path is still rough and does not provide a good walking surface, but Elaine Karnes, who is pictured above on the trail, says her crew will continue to make improvements.
The new beach trail is entirely on public right-of-way. The trail follows the access road cleared by the developer past the northern 14th Street property line and continues on to the beach.
