Please join us for a special benefit reading by Rob Freedman who will be presenting selections from his new book Beach Bum: A Life in Pieces. Beach Bum looks at the many paths and people that go into the making of a life. It is a pessimist’s endorsement of hope and keeping on. In a series of connected personal essays, both humorous and deadly serious, Butch traces his attempts to live a meaningful life. He writes about issues ranging from his rejection and later embrace of Judaism to dealing with hepatitis C to a return to surfing at the age of 70. As a special benefit for the Newport Chapter, fifty percent of the book sales at the reading will support our chapter's ongoing efforts to protect or local ocean, waves and beaches.
When: October 7, 2 pm
Where: Cape Meares Community Center, 5690 4th St. NW, Cape Meares.
