Saturday September 19th was a banner day at the coast and we had a bunch of really amazing volunteers come out to help clean our beaches. I want to thank everyone for their time and effort. The theme I heard from the volunteers and beach captains is that the beaches were relatively clean. Some volunteers might get disheartened at this, but I see it as a sign of hope. We want our beaches clean. Wouldn't you rather spend time walking on a clean beach rather than picking up debris every few steps? That's what I thought. ;) Link to photos below.
As for the event itself, the Newport Zone had over 200 volunteers collecting approximately 1432 pounds of debris from Yaquina Bay to Devil's Punchbowl. So truly, thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered their beautiful Saturday and we hope to see you again in the Spring!
