Winter Cleanup Results!

Written by Kaia Hazard | Apr 15, 2024 7:47:21 PM

The results are in for our annual Winter Beach Cleanup Series!  Each January, February, and March, we partner with our local surf shops to offer supplies for self-led beach cleanups across Lincoln County.  Participants can choose to clean whichever beach they like, and are entered to win a prize when they bring the trash back to the surf shop.  Our local waste haulers have generously donated their services to make sure the trash makes it to the landfill and stays off the beach!

Thank you to Thompson’s Sanitary, North Lincoln Sanitary Service, Dahl Disposal Service, Newport Surf Shop, Pura Vida Surf Shop, ZuhG Life Surf Shop, Ossies Surf Shop, and South Beach Surf Shop for their amazing partnership on this series each year!

This year, despite our winter weather, 63 determined volunteers cleared 431 lbs of trash from our local beaches!  THANK YOU!

Bonus result: Eight individuals braved the pouring rain to come help pick up trash along Highway 101 at Moolack Beach on Saturday, April 6. In total, eight volunteers collected 575 lbs of trash!  Cleaning up the overwhelming amount of trash along the highway prevents pollution from making its way down to the beach and into the ocean, making these are our most impactful cleanups! Thank you to all who participated and please consider volunteering next time! We need all the help we can get for these highway cleanups!
