The Newport Chapter’s annual Winter Beach Cleanup Series has returned! We are teaming up with local surf shops and waste haulers to clean up Lincoln County beaches this winter. Wintertime is when we see the most debris washed up on our beaches due to winter storms, and this can be especially true after the King Tides. You can do this cleanup at any beach of your choosing- choose your favorite beach or explore a new one!
Here's how it works:
- Bring your own cleanup supplies or grab supplies at any of the following surf shops (check their hours so you know when they open if you're picking up supplies):
- ZuhG Life Surf Shop in Lincoln City
- Pura Vida Surf Shop in Otter Rock
- Newport Surf Shop in Newport
- Ossies Surf Shop in Newport
- South Beach Surf Shop in Newport
- Pick up trash at any beach of your choosing!
- Return your trash to any of the above listed surf shops before 2 pm to be entered to win a prize!
Last month, 15 volunteers braved the rain and cold to collect over 200 lbs of trash from local beaches! The next cleanup days will be Saturday February 17 and March 16.

Thank you to our local waste haulers- North Lincoln Sanitary Service, Thompson’s Sanitary Service, and Dahl Disposal Service- for donating their services to help keep our beaches clean!
