Restoring Access to Martin's Beach

Martin's Beach is a much-loved beach south of Half Moon Bay that has been visited by coastside families for generations. In 2008, it was purchased by a private owner and subsequently a locked gate was put in place and other tactics were implemented to prevent and deter the public from accessing this beach. A local coalition has been formed to work toward the reopening of this beach to the public.

Surfrider Foundation has been successful in defending the Martin's 5, Coastal Act litigation, and legislation aimed at finding ways to permanently open the access.  We are committed to fighting for sustained public beach access at his beautiful beach.
