The Newport Chapter's Holiday Party on December 10th was a blast thanks to the numerous attendees and volunteers who came out to show their support for the chapter and the Surfrider Foundation. The night included live music compliments of Steve Cook and his son, Branden. Delicious food was provided by Boone Ogden at Mandala Catering and Local Ocean.
A special thank you to Matt and Beth Hawkyard for allowing us to use their membership at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club. The beautiful space and overwhelming accommodations as well as decorations made this night particularly special.
Other donations were made possible by Ossie's Surf Shop and Bike Newport. Thanks to these donors, we had excellent door prizes including hats and gift certificates.
Even Representative Gomberg couldn't resist the festivities and graced us all with a lively impromptu speech.
Along with being a holiday celebration, this event was held to appreciate our volunteers, especially those involved in the Blue Water Task force. These hearty volunteers spent countless hours over the past year collecting water at various sites in and around Newport and Depoe Bay to monitor pollutants in our local waterways.
Lastly, we'd like to thank our volunteers once more for all of their hard work to make this party a success. The Newport Chapter is growing, gaining a stronger presence in the community but we couldn't do it without the overwhelming support of our volunteers and community partners.
